HERE IS A GENERAL PRICING GUIDE.
Pricing Guide for this year's Buck Hill Ski Racing Club Tent Sale
Thank you for your interest in selling your item with us this year! The proceeds of our sale benefit the non-profit Buck Hill Ski Racing Club. Our pricing structure is as follows: $5 per item to place into the sale and a 20% commission if the item sells. Unfortunately this year, we will not be able to offer on the spot pricing guidance during item check in. Please see “How To Sell An Item At The 2020 Buck Hill Tent Sale” Document at buckhilltentsale.com.
Our goal is to sell your item at a price you’re comfortable with. Some people are selling to declutter and are less concerned with price, while others are upgrading equipment and want a fair price for their good used equipment. We want to help you find the price that works for you.
With that in mind, here are some general guidelines:
-Most shoppers at our swap are looking for a great deal. They may not necessarily be looking for equipment, but they are stopping by to see what's available. They may only buy if something really jumps out at them.
-We sell lots of junior skis. Ski and Snowboard equipment for children around age 12 and under is plentiful, both new and used. It’s not uncommon to see used boots for $25 and skis/boards for $50 or less for this age group.
-Adult equipment that is not high end is worth about half its new cost if it is in good shape and not more than 5 years old.
-Adult equipment that is more than 7 years old, or is in poor condition, will not sell unless priced very aggressively. Think under $50. We do ask that if your equipment is broken in any way that you not place it for sale. We are obligated to reject any unsafe equipment.
-True racing skis and poles are generally popular due to many club racers, high school racers and adult league racers. A race ski in good condition that is reasonably new can go for up to 75% of its original price. Of course, the best deals will sell fast, but as the sale progresses, the supply dwindles but the demand is still there.
-Used Clothing & Jackets have to be priced very aggressively. The only exception is for GS racing suits which can be sold for $100+ if in good shape and within 3 years old.
-Helmets may be placed for sale if they’re not damaged. A generic snowsports helmet should be priced under $20 if it is in good shape. A racing helmet that is in good shape can be priced around $50.
-We would be happy to help you price your specific items. Send an email to info@Buckhilltentsale.com.
The Buck Hill Tent Sale is the largest fundraiser for the Buck Hill Ski Racing Club. The Buck Hill Tent Sale is the largest fundraising event of the Buck Hill Ski Racing Club. The Club is a fundraising and support entity formed to advance and maintain the Buck Hill Ski Racing Team as the premier junior alpine racing team in the country. The organizational effort and funds generated by the Club are directed to support the Team Objectives set by Head Coach Erich Sailer.
Because the expenses associated with running a premier ski program exceed the fees paid by team members, the Club was formed to raise money to bring the Buck Hill ski program to its highest level. Funds raised by the Club are directed to:
1. Support our club members, at all levels, as they set and strive to achieve their individual goals. This includes:
- Recruiting, developing and retaining world-class coaches;
- Providing access to alternative training not available at Buck Hill (e.g. G.S., Mountain/Camps and physical training);
- Equipment, training tools and facility improvements that advance all racers with the best on hill experience possible.
2. Support the development of nationally and internationally competitive skiers who support the club values, coaching staff and benefit the entire club by providing competition, demonstration and lower points. This includes:
- Travel expenses for coaches who support Club athletes as they advance to FIS competitions and prestigious races that include Junior Olympics, National Championships and International Championships;
- Support for select racers who travel out of division to National and International Championship Events as ambassadors of the Buck Hill Ski Team.
3. Advancing the sport of alpine racing regionally, divisionally and nationally which will directly benefit the advancement of our athletes and our program. This includes:
- Representation of the club on appropriate Region, Division and National boards and or committees;
- Promotion and/or recruitment of new athletes to the sport of ski racing;
- Education and training for parents of our athletes, on and off-hill.

There is no longer an official indemnified list but you can find a partial listing at skibum.net for 2017-18. The 2016-17 list is also available here. Equipment found to be damaged or in bad repair may be removed from the sale. Clothing must be clean and in good condition.

The success of the team over the years is due in large part to the efforts of the Program Director, Erich Sailer. There is no one better in the country at developing junior ski racers. Buck Hill was recognized as the Ski Team of the Year by USSA in 2008. The system that Erich has installed over the years is also very important. Each coach with the team has participated and benefited from this system as a junior racer. The coaches know the system well, believe in the system and are dedicated to giving something back to the sport of ski racing. In recognition of Erich's dedication, he was inducted into the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame in 2006. Congratulations, Erich!
